16 December 2010 / Thursday --     Last week FOUR of my adorable rare home raised Sphynx cats were adopted -- two from the kitchen, Triangle, the father of all of the ones I have and Blackie, the final male kitten from the last litter -- I kept a couple month old male, Ringo [thus named because he has rings on his tail] who in about a year of so may father some kittys -- he has all the habits of his pappy, is vocal when he sees me [most of my others rarely meow] / jumps up to my shoulders and smooches me -- from the bedroom TWO others were adopted -- BeanTusk, the male, and Tigey, his mommy -- three females are still available from the bedroom ...

I finally took down the 2009 Christmas cards from the two windows to the right of my computer desk -- I wrote out my 2010 greetings and sent them out, over a week later than I usually do - to this date I have received NINE cards and a few eCards [see below] which I do NOT count on my Grinch page --

the day was freezing cold, as has been most of the days in the past couple weeks -- luckily we have not had any snow yet, other than brief flurries which only remained in the cracks in the street -- I went to Motor Vehicles to renew the registration on my 1994 Dodge van, which has had Commercial plates since I got it new way back when -- I asked if they could give me Handicapped plates instead -- the nice girl with three inch fingernails did all the paperwork, got the new plates / handicapped ID and other paperwork ready and then said I needed my MD to sign a form attesting to my handicapped status -- I told her he is in West Trenton and it would take be at least an hour before I return, IF the doc was available -- so out in the breezy cold I went to West Trenton ...

I signed the sign in sheet saying that it would ONLY take less than a minute for the Doc to sign the paper -- the nasty gal at the reception desk told me to leave my phone number and they would call me when it was ready, to which I replied that I would wait there as a walk in, since it would not take up much of the doctor's time -- NO WAY she told me, I would have to make an appointment because the doctor has to see / evaluate me before he could sign anything -- what a crock, I told her, anything to collect the doctor visit fee! She made the appointment for 14h the next day -- I arrived on another frigid day at slightly after 13h -- within minutes I was called in -- they weighed me -- 220 pounds, ten les than the last time -- blood pressure was normal -- a short time later my MD came in -- I said, well hello my young friend, the one who did the autopsy on Abraham Lincoln after he was shot at some theatre or other -- we BOTH laughed -- laughing is said to be good for the soul -- I said that I was sort of OK, other than watery eyes and nose / a dry cough, things I usually get during the winter, probably the flu -- he said it was not the flu, rather an allergy -- I think that alergies are all in the mind / they are not REAL -- they happen when we are annoyed at something -- well, he signed the form and made an appintment for a checkup a week AFTER my birthday on 14 January 2011 -- he changed my old prescription of eight mg of TOVIAZ to ten mg of VESICARE, a MUCH smaller pill that seems to work better in reducing my urge to urinate at all hours

back to Motor Vehicles I flew -- the girl from the day before was not in -- another one saw me looking around and recognized me from the previous day -- I explained what I needed and what was already done, but she replied that since the other one was not there, she would have to start the process all over again ... I took out the forms I was given previously -- she looked at them and said that was all I needed for the new forms -- she then got the new Handicapped plates / ID card / new van registration and some other stuff together and I was bubbling over with joy to finally have this all done -- I gave her a tin of Christmas cookies and left for home ...

now to remove the old Commercial plates, replacing them with the new Handicapped ones -- what a chore it was -- I first used a screwdriver with a small head which did not budge the screws holding the front plate on -- looking in the garage I found a screwdriver with a much larger head -- painfully kneeling on the street I tried again to loosen the screws -- that did not work -- so upstairs I trudge to get the trusty spray can of WD - 40 -- after spraying the two screws and banging them with the tool, they finally unscrewed and I was able to replace that plate -- now on to the back plate -- that one was under the back fender, the screws being almost invisible unless I almost lay in the street to see them -- hey, the temperature was about 19 degrees during this entire process -- did the WD - 40 thing and banged them, which resulted in being able to get the screws out and the new plate on -- getting back up off the street was a painful ordeal -- back in I trudged with frozen hands that took a while to thaw out ...

I use full sized newspapers to wrap the books that I sell on ebutt -- I only had a few left and asked my usual source down the street of he would save me some again -- he replied that he does NOT get any newspapers any more -- then I asked at the Hispanic grocery store across the street and at Foodtown, a few blocks away -- the both said they return what does not sell for a refund credit -- what to do now? On one of my Post Office trips to West Trenton I went to Marazzos food market -- they sell at least seven or eight different large format newspapers -- I asked the manager if they had any unsold ones available -- he said to come the next Wednesday / go to the back room where the compactor is and ask for Mike between 10 and 14h -- that I did about 13h the next Wednesday -- I asked a dude in back if Mike was available -- he looked around and I left, standing outside the door -- Mike came out in a couple minutes [I never saw him there before] and he asked what he could do for me -- what a super macho he was, with a gold nose stud, two gold earrings, and a smallish bit of hair on his chinny chin chin -- I explained what the manager told me -- he led me to the back and there was a large pile of newspapers which I gathered together -- he put them in a boc for me and I left thanking him profusely -- this pile should last me a couple months, at least

so there you have my latest update -- thanks for visiting me again --- this page may run until 14 January, my birthday, after which I hope to begin a new 2011 YES page, so stay tuned

12 December 2010 / Thursday ---     some of the events since my last update -- on a trip to the West Trenton Post Office I stopped by Marazzos and picked up a FREE eleven+ pound ham with bone for four coupons for shopping there -- I slice / cut it up for my kitkats / me / the cats outside -- it is super delicious / tender -- took cookies and a pile of books to the South Broad Street Post Office -- yesterday I stopped at the Philly Pretzel Factory in West Trenton and got a large party tray of their hot pretzels with two large cups of two different mustards and took it to the West Trenton Post Office for their clients / staff -- of course I took a few for myself on the way back home --- while at Marazzos I went to see Mike again in the compactor back room where he gave me another HUGE pile of full sized newspapers to use in wrapping my ebutt wins -- they and the batch from last week should last me for about a year -- in the freezing cold I took some digital photos of several art works I had like forever, waiting for the Holy Spirit to move me to take the photographs [ a sea captain smoking a pipe / three of horses / a needlepoint portrait of Laurel and Hardy / a Russian oil of a winter scene with troika and peasant girl ] to list on ebutt -- gawd, the bidding is miserable, about a third of my listings sell ...

25 December 2010 / Saturday --- Christmas

28 December 2010 / Tuesday --- boy o boy, did we get a LOT o snow for two days -- click on PHOTO to see the image which will open in a new screen for convenience -- this is my three garages after I shovelled the snow away from the walkway -- PHOTO -- snow piled up across the street -- PHOTO -- my Kia after I removed the snow piles to be able to get into the car and have a snow free path if and when I have to go somewhere -- PHOTO -- and lastly, the LARGE clump of snow and ice hanging from the side of the roof across the street -- PHOTO -- it could be very dangerous to anyone on the sidewalk if and when it comes tumbling down

Now for the gifts I received -- the digital olor photos will open on a new screen when you see this icon --- ---Ringo, my only male cat gave me SIX pounds of Home Made Polish Lekvar Cookies -- -- here is a closeup on one of the two pound containers AFTER I munched a couple dozen -- --

the kittys in the bedroom gave me a spanking new mouse pad because my old one disappeared Gawd knows where -- it has an image of a tropical beach, where I wish I were right now, and an At-A-Glance 2011 appointment book, which is difficult to find -- it has a real leather cover and is quite expensive -- -- the Hispanic neighbors gave me two LARGE plates of turkey / stuffing / mashed potatoes / raisin bread pudding, but there is no pic because I devoured it all right away --

the pussys presented me with TWO clumps of white asparagus, my favorite kind -- I used to buy it while living in Europe but it is hardly ever found here -- this pic shows the special tall stainless steel pot I stem them in -- --

Kyra, the gal at the Post Office in West Trenton brought me FOUR plates / containerd overfilled with baked ham / collard greens / gravey AND a container of turkey / stuffing / gravey / macaroni salad, AND a plate of egg potato salad, AND last buy not least an ample slice of her homemade apple pie -- -- the kittys and I ate the ham and salad for dinner on Christmas Eve, saving the turkey and pie for Christmas Day --

the cats know I have collected seashells since my pre teen years, so they gave me TWO boxes of Belgian Chocolate Sea Shells by Guylian -- as you can see in the pic I ate a couple already -- -- my overly generous kittys also gave me TWO brqnds of Holiday Stollen and a fruit cake, all chock full of fruits -- the Stollen is the traditional European variety, having a powdered sugar topping, my favorite kind -- from top to bottom you see Entemenn's Fruit Stollen [my favorite] / Frau Helga's Dresden Butter Stollen [comes in as my second favorite] and Capital Cake Company Fruit Cake, which is very good, but nothing to compare with an authentic European Holiday Stollen -- -- lastly my kitty pals surprised me with a Strawberry Cheesecake -- they know I usually have a large New York Style Cheesecake in the fridge, munching on a couple slices as desert after dinner -- --

One negative entered into the above festive spirit -- Ringo, my only male Sphynx cat, appears to be suffering from a bronchial infection -- I am giving him a liquid antibiotic [Clavimax] which may help -- he is VERY weak / is able to meow softly / is barely able to walk, although when he sees me he does make an effort to crawl out of his lower fruit box apartment to greet me, just as his father always did -- kindly say a prayer that he recovers soon as he would be a MAJOR loss to my cattery is he is missing

31 December 2010 / Friday --- New Years Eve -- yesterday I discovered that some fuckin local bastard smashed the left back door window on my van -- I left it at Piscerno's in West Trenton to replace the glass which appears to be a rare size for that Dodge van -- it may be ready next week sometime

I replaced the 2010 calendars in the kitchen and on the bulletin board in my study to the right of my computer desk to the new 2011 one from FoodBazaar featuring a different scene from various Hispanic countries each month -- thus far I have received thirty - five snail mail greeting cards and sixty - four Christmas related emails

Ringo seems to be positively responding to the medication -- he is always at my feet when I come into the kitchen and he seems to be eating normally again -- I hope he has totally recovered -- I still keep him in my prayers -- I may take the bottle of bubbly that I have had in the fridge for some three years, IF I am awake at the strike of MIDNIGHT ... I probably will not add any ebutt treasures tonight

* J A N U A R Y *

1 January 2011 / Saturday --- I watched the Times Square New Years festivities on my iMac -- the Waterford crystal ball changed colors constantly, sometimes keeping pace with the music ** ** another view ** ** as you could have guessed, the streaming video was overloaded just as the clock struck MIDNIGHT and I missed seeing the ball descend and the fireworks display -- NO, I did not open the bottle of champaigne, opting instead for a tall can of Starbucks Doubleshot Energy + Coffee, while munching on a pack of pizzelles / a couple Belgian chocolates / a handfull of Polish lekvar cookies -- I gave the kittys in the kitchen a fresh can of cat food -- Ringo was the first at the bowl -- I wish all my viewers a splendid New Year and God bless

3 January 2011 / Monday --- here is a photo of the Christmas cards I received this year -- they are hung on three strings across the two glass block windows on the wall to the right of my desks -- click on the icon to see a larger view which opens in a new screen for convenience ** ** see if you can find YOUR card among the others -- today I finally finished the ham I got FREE at Marazzos before Christmas -- the cats enjoyed most of it / I threw the large bone in the driveway for the local cats and birds to play with

6 January 2011 / Thursday --- today I sent Peter a box of goodies to distribute to others in the family when he sees them -- there have been NO flies anywhere in the apartment since we had that snow storm about a week ago -- I guess they all flew south to Florida for the winter and now appear at the Bingo / Mah Jong sessions at the retirement villages -- yesterday I went for the third ime to see Mike at Marazzos -- I got a postal bin chock full of newspapers to wrap ebutt treasures I send out -- I should now be well stocked at least until next Christmas ...

along the way I stopped in to see Tom to ask him about the van -- YES, they replaced the glass -- now they have to check the fluids / install winter windshield wipers, / fill it with gas before the price skyrockets to $5 a gallon -- I asked him what it would cost me to have a reconditioned transmission installed to replace the original one that grinds / makes noise / gets out of gear freuently when speeding up / climbing an incline -- we shall see, whenever he gets around to it

My birthday is coming up in 14 January, seventy - one biggies -- I wonder what surprises, if any, will appear at my doorstep

14 January 2011 / Friday --- Today is MY Seventy - First BIRTHDAY

It snowed heavily TWICE since my last update -- here are two digital photographs of my 2010 KIA parked outside the door of my upstairs apartment two days ago -- PHOTO -- PHOTO -- I had to remove the snow THREE times in order to drive to the West Trenton Post Office and Marazzo's to get some food ...

the door bell rang yesterday and the cats went down to answer it -- whatever they got was hidden until today --- would you believe, they saved up their meager allowances to surprise me with an Apple fifteen inch laptop and a DVD, Legend of the Guardians !! They know I ike high techy toys AND anything having to do with OWLS -- here is the laptop as I watched the beginning of the movie -- -- here you can see the front of the DVD case -- -- and in the next scan you can see the back of the clamshell case with all the details of this fantasy action flick -- SCAN --

here is an enlarged view of the fascinating story line -- SCAN -- My brother surprised me with the ONLY birthday card received thus far [with a check for $71 inside, to match my young age] -- I did receive a couple dozen birthday greetings via email / posted on the Watercooler / Apple Corp / Molly & Magee web site -- thanks to everyone who remembered

after a West Trenton postal run I stopped to Piscerno's to see if my van was done -- I was just in time because Tom was about to leave for home because his Dad died on the 13th -- he will not be back to work until the middle of next week -- he said the transmission work was completed and handed me the bill -- over 2,000 clams it cost me! There is a three year warranty on the job, so I will not have to worry about it for a while -- OK, so how was I supposed to get the van to bring it home? Perhaps taking a taxi or whatever. On the way home I stopped at the FoodBazaar to get myself a birthday cake -- found the largest half sheet gold cake they had, smothered with real butter icing and blue flowers -- apparently my eyes are bigger than my fridge!

128 ounce / 8 pound Birthday Cake

At 21h I called Kyra from the Post Office to see if she could take me to pick up the van -- she arrived in a jiffy and off we went -- I gave her a LARGE piece of my birthday cake for her youngest son who loves the stuff -- the gas section of Piscerno's was still open -- she drove me around the back / watched as I got in the van and started it up, then left -- the drive hom was easy as pie, the overhauled transmission worked perfectly after giving me a headache for at least four years / I parked it in its usual place behind the Kia, then went up to the apartment to thaw out [the outdoor temperature was only eighteen degrees with a wind chill to make it feel even more frigid -- I ate another huge piece of birthday cake and added a couple items to my eBay seller list ...

a day or two ago I sent my nephew, Peter, two packages of treasures that I forgot to take with me when I visited him for the family Thanksgiving feast -- some VERY expensive European clothes, some of which may fit him / three new digital cameras with video capability, for him / his brother / my brother [they can fight over which one each of them wants to have] -- four expensive At-A-Glance 2011 appointment books for those who use them

so there you have it, everything related to Christmas and my 71st Birthday -- maybe I forgot to add something or other, but I can always fill it in later

21 January 2011 / Friday --- would you believe, IT IS SNOWING AGAIN! -- PHOTO --

Within a few days I hope to begin a new 2011 YES page, so please stay tuned / thank you for keeping up with my ideas & activities in 2010 / GOD BLESS
