27 March 2005 / Easter Sunday -- Thanks to Bill for this years Easter greeting, slightly reworked from his original pic --
H a p p y -- -- E a s t e r
I got one snail mail card from my brother, but no dinner invite -- did get several email greetings, though, and sent some emails with the above pic in it to most of those on my AOL address book -- over the years I rarely sent out normal cards for this holiday.
The UK Dr. Who series is returning, after an absence of over 10 years -- -- I used to watch it all the time, when I had my TV set up and running -- -- it will have a new star, updated robots, and a female assistant who is supposed to be hotter than the ones in the old series [see link, below].
Yesterday I finally entered the code for 120 free Skype land line phone minutes that came with my Plantronics headset -- I got a message that I have 179 days to use the credit, until 29 September 2005 -- my first call may be to Horacio, in Tenerife -- I am interested in seeing how well it works. I have 15 names on my Skype online call list, but only two of them are usually logged on at some time of the day -- a Kardas relative in Poland, and Todd, in Hawaii, who does regular podcasts.

10 April 2005 / Sunday -- since I do not have a TV at home, I was able to watch the Pope's funeral online from start to finish, beginning at 04h, my local time,, on Friday, 8 April 2005 -- -- the audio visual stream came in very well, but screen shots of the video do not always give a clear image, as seen in this case -- it was an emotional 2.5+ hours -- I later took screen shots of two events -- #1, the scene in front of the Basilica during the mass, and #2, Pope John's coffin as it is lowered into the place once occupied by that of Pope John XXIII, which I saw when I visited Saint Peter's in the 1960s. Interestingly, the only thing I sold thus far on Yahoo Auctions / Mastodon Place was a white Pope John Paul II limited edition Bear, and it is also the only thing that has a bid at this time (I put another one up after the first sold) -- last night, the one I had on eBay sold for an amazing $41 -- I only have four of the extra special red ones left, and one may appear in my seller list later today.
Zews, the new Russian Sphynx, kept me up all night over a week ago, humping Guichi and perhaps another female -- -- this was Guichi's neck the day after -- no blood, just very noticeable marks where the male always holds onto the female's neck in their form of catty sex play -- four days later not a mark was seen! Curiously, she had one litter about 3 years ago, then seems to have lost interest, and does not appear to be pregnant at this time -- also, interestingly, Yakshini, my youngest female mysteriously does look as if she is expecting, while Kappora, the Russian female does not -- who knows what I shall notice in another 4 weeks or so -- unfortunately, this keeps me stuck at home and unable to make trips lasting more than a few hours because I cannot trust Bernar to care for them over a couple days or longer.
The male and female Turtle Doves are back in the tree on the sidewalk -- this time the nest looks very poorly constructed in the same notch as last year -- although I think I saw an egg or two a couple days ago, there apparently were none there yesterday.
I recently saw Ken, the owner of what was Irwin's Tobacco and Candy wholesalers, across the street -- you may remember it closed before last Christmas. He gave me two boxes of Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut Chocolates, a box of Nestle Superior Quality Milk Chocolate, and two tins of Captain Black pipe tobacco, white package, which I hope will be the last tobacco that I smoke! When I went to take pics of the place -- -- I found that their sign had already been removed -- -- another view from the from the front to the small -- -- enclosed parking area in the back which is rented out to some neighbor. He sort of surprised me when he told me he sold the property already, for 170k -- hey, outside it is in much worse shape (crumbling to non existent sidewalk, rusted drain pipes, iron window frames and air conditioners, cracked steps, usually overgrown with weeds on the small patch of soil along the side, etc.) than mine is, the inside is dark and dreary, NO apartment, and NO garages! I neglected to ask who he sold it to, but Donald down the street told me it was sold to the Hispanics who own the grocery store directly across the street -- I do not believe everything that Donald tells me, though.

8 May 2005 / Sunday -- MOTHER'S DAY -- this is for you Mom -- I still miss you!
the weather has reverted from an early summer to colder, wind, rain and dreary days again -- that turtle dove laid an egg, disappeared and so did the egg, came back, laid another egg, and seems to disappear for days at a time, probably due to the ratty weather -- I did not even include a pic, which I did take, because I added a couple last year at about this time, and you already know what they look like! I do have a pile of Kewl Links, though, for those who actually click any of them. So, briefly, what has happened since almost a month ago?
Hang in there while I check to see if all the links work! I may even be back in an hour or so! Zzzzzzzzzzz On second thought, I may write more later today, if I sleep at all!
OK, sorry about this interruption in my news section -- I have been feverishly working all weekend on a kewl new web site devoted to stamp collecting, and I just now finished its initial contents -- much more to come as time permits --

19 May 2005 / Thursday -- short and sweet again -- one of these days I have to try to really catch up on some shaggy dog type news, and I do have some! I found a kewl Nerd Test online, and checked it out -- my results knocked my socks off! I do not really think I am all that nerdy! One other person I virtually know also had a score of 95%, so at least two Nerd Gods exist in the Universe!
Loads of new KEWL LINKS for you, below, to make up for little personal news.
A few days ago I finally got around to working on a couple of my Star Wars domains -- what prompted me was the release of what may be the final chapter in the Star Wars saga, after about 30 years -- I did not miss a single one, and for the last three (1999, 2002, and this one) I luckily found tickets for the midnight premiere here at a movie theatre in Hamilton Township, which is at the southern entrance of this capital city, sort of -- it also got me in the mood to update some graphics for my eBay listings, replacing those I made last year. Since Mother's Day has passed, I had to change my countdown counter to one for Father's Day, but I really did not have a pic to include in it, which reflects the date counted down to -- I checked through my formats for the last 4-5 years, through all my animated gif folders, and even spent some time online trying to find something I could use -- absolutely nothing I liked, then I dozed off for about an hour -- immediately when I awoke, the answer popped into my mind in a flash of insight (hey, this happens to me frequently, and I almost come to rely on it for kewl ideas, research directions and other things) -- this theoretically final chapter of Star Wars, The Revenge of the Siths, once again brings us back to Darth Vader, that nice kid who wanted recognition, unlimited power and the usual stuff that leads many astray, so he switched to the Dark Side -- and fathered two kids, so there I had the ideal image for my Father's Day countdown counter, and one which was kewl-ish, contemporary and currently in the news a lot! I was going to include those pics here, but just now decided to make a separate page for this latest Star Wars stuff --

26 May 2005 / Thursday -- I often write that I go to West Trenton perhaps once or twice a week, to Bernar's place to do various things -- lately it has been to -- -- fill some plastic containers with energized agua from the electronic Microlite super water apparatus he purchased -- -- I then use the water for making coffee, tea, and for general cooking whenever water is needed. For some reason the cats show no interest in drinking it unless I do not give them anything else for more than a day -- I find this somewhat strange -- if it is supposed to be good for us, then it should also be great for other animals.
Nearby is my really kewl stainless steel stove, a Thermador Professional, which I splurged on when I was still teaching -- it is heavy as hell -- I fondly remember the cheesecakes I made in that monster oven -- -- I still have to find a space for it here, probably in the garage as a temporary place until I can think of something else -- I may even sell it.
My other main reason for going there is to wash clothes -- he bought a great (and expensive) Frigidaire Gallery front loading washer that does an exceptional job at cleaning even the most difficult things -- -- the gas drier, a Kenmore Heavy Duty came with the place, must be over 20 years old and still functions well, but Sears appliances were always noted for their durability, at least with their older things. I was there this afternoon to take a load of wash out of the washing machine that I put in yesterday, and put them into the drier -- then into the washer went a quilt, and hopefully tomorrow I can wash the remaining clothes.
Every once in a while when I find him there, we talk about Apple Computers, or iPods, some other techy stuff, or just world news -- many years ago he had a Mac, but then switched to the Dark Side of the PC world, and has had several different models over the last 4-5 years -- he has a new eMachine on his desk now -- so I was totally amazed when I accidentally discovered (that is another story, though!) that he recently ordered the new iMac, the same day it was upgraded -- fully loaded! He saw the things at some retailer, then ordered it online on the Apple web site. Since, as I have said before, he is rarely home, last week I went there more frequently than normal hoping that the delivery dude would show up and not just leave a YOU WERE NOT HOME notice, and I would sign for the package, he would eventually open it and I could see what it is like, firsthand. Well, the days I was there it was not delivered, so I asked Bernar did it arrive -- yes, three days late because they screwed up the delivery, and he went to FedEx personally to get the package! So why do I not see it on his work table? Oh, he has it at a friend's house -- yes, he loves it, it is quiet, fast, heavy, easy to use, and the color flat panel screen is exceptional -- you know, what everybody says about them. He told me that he has not played with it very much, but then again, apparently he is rarely online even though he has a fast connection, and does not appear to use his puter toys for very much because of his work at the liquor store he manages, and the things he does on the house to eventually sell it.
I have another bunch of Kewl Links for you -- included is a second Star Wars Revenge of the Sith page, containing links and other more recent related stuff. If you have a couple hours to spare, check out that Bear Tower link -- on each page there are other links, and they lead onto yet others -- his Ich page is particularly complex and kewl as shit (he is Dutch, as is most of the minimalist text). Although I was very impressed, I still prefer my bare bones web page formatting -- simple, direct, easy to navigate, relatively fast loading even with a dialup connection, and usually chock full of whatever -- these have always been my aims since I started this web site (and the others) -- although my formatting has changed somewhat over the years, the pages are still without all the cutesy bells and whistles one commonly finds these days -- in many cases I find all that eye candy simply distracting, while in others, waiting for the really kewl movie or cartoon to load can get boring after the first 5 minutes. Yeah, you might say -- get a freekin cable connection -- are you going to pay for it? I cannot!

30 May 2005 / Monday -- Memorial Day Holiday -- the official start of the summer season , trips to the beach and cookouts are now in order until the kiddys start school again in about September.
Before the month ends, let me try to tie up some of the loose threads I began on this page -- the first bunch of thumbnails I have given a border of 1 to, and the final group a border of 2, just to see the difference in their aspect when they appear online -- sometimes, when included within the text part, they seem to touch the line of words above and / or below them, which, to me, looks dorky --
the general disrepair of Irwin's, across the street -- -- every time I look out the kitchen window I see rusted downspouts and cracked sidewalks and curbing -- -- that window to the left is now smashed and that side door, which is not alarmed, was broken into several weeks ago, and moves with the wind -- I have not seen Ken in about a month already and do not have his telephone number, but I did leave a note in his front mailbox asking him for it -- -- toward the right, closer to the main street, we see much the same thing -- -- the rusting steel doors to his basement always bothered me somehow, so at least 5 years ago I used the special antirust paint that Horacio sent me from Tenerife to paint one side of them, which does make it look better and keeps it from totally rusting away -- -- I then gave Ken what was left in the can and told him he could get one of his hired peeps to finish the job -- they never did!
Way back on 28 April I finally reached another eBay milestone -- -- 4000 positive feedbacks -- it took me about two years from the big 3000 to accomplish. In these uncertain times, I shall not give the one who posted it for me, daiseyshopper, Cat Dollars in the amount of 100, as I did the previous time -- they will get 20 CD to spend on bidding on my goodies, and the winner before that and the one following will also each get 20 CD in order to spread the happiness around a little -- eBay continues very slow, but Yahoo Auctions is a lot worse -- not only do they not have the enormous number of bidders which the former has, but their programming is so fucked up that I have gotten --
notices when I am at the final stage of listing some collectible bears that I have listed on eBay for many years, because some mysterious word or something must be against their protective guidelines -- -- I contacted them at least a dozen times about these Beatles, Astronaut, Tiger Woods and other bears and got canned responses saying they would review the listing and get back to me -- they did reply within 24 hours (which is lightening fast compared to eBay, but also with automated responses, saying that there was nothing wrong with the listing and to click on a link to relist the poor baby -- unfortunately, when I tried this, I got the same GD error message! Hey, I listed the Pope John Paul II bear several times with them without a glitch, and the item descriptions are all basically the same.
At a recent high tech meeting in California (or maybe it was Las Vegas?), Steve Jobs spoke of the next generation iPods, and how they would include some form of Podcasting download ability or whatever -- after which he imparted his Apple blessing to all the faithful in attendance -- -- although I have not yet reported on my recent acquisition of the now discontinued 40gb iPod Photo, having a kewl color screen, I may get around to that one of these updates -- I do want to add at this time that it is kewl as hell, and I got one of the last ones in stock because the offer was withdrawn within hours of my order.
Kamiel, my 10+ year old Sphynx has had diarrhea for many weeks already -- I took him several times to the vet, who said it might be an intestinal infection, and gave me two different antibiotics, which did not seem to remedy the situation -- he eats well, is quietly just as active as ever, and uses the litter box when needed, but does have accidents just about anywhere he sits or walks. I even gave him, as one of the vets recommended, Kaopectate twice, but he does not like me giving him pills, or in this case, a liquid, and it is a chore administering anything to him -- here he is sitting happily on the microwave as I reheat dinner -- -- he does this frequently, probably because of the warmth, and I sometimes wonder if the microwave radiation might have something to do with his problems -- he does get around easily enough, but he has lost a lot of weight and body mass -- -- here he is sunning himself at the back kitchen window with Ziggy, the young male.
Three days ago I discovered that Bernar hired a dumpster to get rid of a lot of crap that was piling up behind the garages in West Trenton -- --
I never find anybody to take photos of me, so I got creative and set the camera on the steps across the street, shown in the about pics, and took two delayed exposures, not knowing exactly what I would be taking a pic of -- -- although not a very good shot, it will have to suffice for the time being -- allow me to end this page with two pics of me, extracted from the two delayed shots I took, just in case you might want some centerfold photos to hang on your fridge or what ever -- one thing I seem to notice is very pronounced knuckles on my boney left paw -- when I look at them now, they do not appear as enlarged or inflated -- in the pics they look very weird --
