My
brief observations about the Revenge of the Sith -- the
color is fantastic, and the details are stupendous, which one
would expect from Lucas and his virtual effects gang -- I sat in about the
tenth row, center, as I always do, and was way too interested
in / occupied by the details of the sometimes overcrowded images
to notice anything about the music too much, so I cannot say
a single thing about the background music -- when the CD appears
at Sam's
Club, I shall get it and load some of
the tracks onto my iPod
Photo, and may even include some of the
images on this page --
although the dialogue was minimalist, at
best, who the hell is taking too much notice of what they are
saying? In essence, it was sort of like simplistic biblical parables,
commandments (Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's droid), or
the proverbial soundbites in the news and catchy headlines. The
action was virtually non-stop in this flick, and the scenes appeared
to be more complex and bountiful / filled in than in the previous
films, almost overpowering at times -- the space craft, weapons,
landscapes, beasts, humanoids and droids encountered were kewl
as shit, and extremely detailed, as were the costumes and everything
else, in general -- I would have to see the movie several times
to focus on each and every minute detail, since there were so
many of them on such a monster screen -- I was slightly surprised
to see some scenes of nominal tenderness and minimal smoochyness
-- not erotic, in any sense of the word (outright overt sex and
frequent allusions thereto seems to be the trend with movie directors
over the last 25 years or so, just, apparently, to have a bigger
sell factor for an otherwise droll, uninteresting film), although
that scene where Anakin awoke after a bad dream was almost eye-popping, almost
--
Palpatine sure had a very obviously studied simplistic way
of tempting Anakin, and only being human, albeit a Jedi, the latter
fell for all that shit, hook, line and sinker! I have always
found it sort of strange how feeling out of a group (in this
case, not being chosen as a Jedi
Master), fear of losing something, offers
of unlimited power over others, and theoretically being immortal
in some way has led to the ultimate demise of those who sell
their soul / body / mind for these dubious delights -- many times
they kill that which they may have intended to rescue -- we find
it in biographies, novels, stage plays, on TV and in the media
with some frequency -- for some reason, my ever wandering mind
saw in this stunning dialectic presentation something of our
own government politics and that of other so-called world leaders,
somehow, but I cannot explain exactly how, it was just an intuitive
feeling.
Which character would probably make a better
world leader in a meaningful all inclusive global so-called rainbow
coalition? Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luke, Mace, or maybe even Amidalia -- hey,
how about R2-D2, if programed in just the right way, after all, we
are already apparently ruled and dictated to by complex electronic
gizmos and gadgets every day, why not have one as our leader
-- if coded in open source, of course, and using Apple's latest operating system.
Which one of these would obtain the most
popular votes, if each and every vote would be counted and really
mean something? Would they stand on their own documented merits,
or would they have to buy the votes, use constant sleeze and
negative mud slinging, produce questionable supporting / detracting
documents, promise the Moon and later waffle on everything, as
is commonplace in these times? Would each have their own web
sites, newsletters, and contribution requests? There are way
too many Palpatines in power in too many places on this minor planet
at this moment, and we can all see it, whether it be a business
/ religious / political leader on a local / national / international
level -- should I include neighborhoods and families here also?
The constant battle between good and evil
which we see on a daily basis everywhere on our planet is well
depicted in a rather simplistic primordial way, greatly enhanced
by the captivating visual presentation. Perhaps this is why the
Star Wars films have always been so popular? Just about anyone,
young or old , can intuitively understand the underlying dichotomy
of what is good and what is not so good, and perhaps dream of
some future utopian time and place where these negative nuances
would not exist, allowing them to feel totally safe, free, able
to just be themselves and sense that they are secure? Does spending
billions on neurotic HomeyLandia
Insecurity accomplish that for us, while
depriving us of some basic freedoms? Would you personally really
opt for knowledge / power of the secrets of the Dark Side? Why?
Think about it for a minute or two, if it takes you that long.
I give this latest and kewlest (and hopefully
not last) episode a ten tentacles up -- do not miss seeing it
on a large screen in theatre sound -- it is thoroughly amazing!
I may add a links section here, and have
a couple on my list already -- if you know of any blogs or web
pages which might prove analytical enough (meaning not too superficial,
yet also not 20 web pages long!), please contact me -- I'll check
them out and perhaps add the link here. Hey, you might even want
to apply for my Internet award for creativity -- AWARD
