CURRENT BEANIES

Here are some of the emails that I received about my current Beanie pals since January. Remember that I don't pick a winner until the end of each month. Thanks for all your really great letters. I never knew I had so many friends!

They just came out with some new ones, and my favourites are Halo Bear, and 1998 Christmas Teddy. I know that there are two different kind of Maple Bears. What is the difference between the two, as I found out that one is worth alot more than the other. Can you help me? >>

Hello Kristin,

Christmas Teddy and Halo said they love the smell of Christmas trees!!

When Maple first appeared in the Beanie nursery in 1997, the name on his tush tag was PRIDE. Only a few thousand were cloned. That makes him as rare as Royal Blue Peanut, and his adoption fees are higher than for Maple.

Why can people sell bears and other rare beanies for a really high price? I really want Glory and Princess and I find them for $100.00-$200.00. I am never going to get them for a cheap price because my allowance want pay for Princess or Glory. Why did TY start making a Santa, Pumpkin? I thought that TY was just going to do animals. Also where does TY get the material to make the beanies? At fabric stores? Thanks a Bunch, Kayla Brandl Wisconsin, USA>>

Hello Kayla,

People seem to like to make $$ as fast as they can!! Plain and simple. And since the official Adoption Centers can make more green stuff selling ALL their bears to secondary market dealers, they do, plain and simple!! Isn't is strange that stores never have them, yet you can find piles of them at flea markets??

Santa IS an animal, just like Spooky and Mystic and Magic. Pumkin has arms and legs and therefore must be an animal-- plants DO NOT have these things. Glory thinks that the Beanie cloning laboratories probably found the secret to changing the genes of a pumpkin to include animal DNA??

The same countries that clone my Beanie pals ALSO have been makers of cloth for hundreds of years, so it is sort of easy to find it there.

Hello Anna,

Peace tells me that he may be found in ALL colors since he is tie-dyed. Some may be almost all blue or orange or some other color. Some have one color face and the same color feet, but the rest of the body is different.

So there are NO TWO exactly alike! Each is different in some way. That's why he is such an interesting bear!

Why are some beanies almost impossible to find over here at the moment such as valentino, curly, garcia, peace and britannia. With britannia being a europe only release i though it would be easier to get hold of one to add to my collection. So far, one shop i've been to had them - at £200 each! To get my Princess beanie, i had to buy 5 other beanies at the same time just so i could buy one! That meant spending £25 before i could get one. My brother paid £18 to get princess on its own from a different shop. I think that shops should only be allowed to charge £3.99 for a beanie and not make us spend more to have the privelege of getting specific beanies. Also, the only rainbows/iggys over here have got the wrong tags on - could the manufacturers really go that wrong?! What do you think Rex? From Julie, England>>

Hello Julie,

The same ones that you mentioned are also very hard to find here in the former Colonies.

As you might have noticed in some of my other answers, part of the reason for ANY current being HTF is due to the official Adoption Agencies selling them online and, as you noted, for extremely high adoption fees.

Although Father Ty has attempted to do a public relations makeover in the recent post on his web site, he unfortunately neglected to add information on where to report official dealers who are taking advantage of kids who would like to have some of my newer Beanie mates.

Today a friend saw the new January releases at a card / chemist's shop for $12, Valentino for $20, Peace for $30 and a "chance" to "win" Erin or Princess for $5 / ticket!! These are all "currents" and are supposed to be available at the "normal" $5-6!!

ALL of the Iggy and Rainbow thus far seen at the adoption centers have the wrong tags. Of course they could "go that wrong"!! It happened before with Echo and Waves, if you remember. I doubt that the labs where they are cloned employ technicians educated enough to tell the difference between a multicolored Chamelion and a blue Iguana!! They barely get paid enough to subsist, let alone have enough education to distinguish one reptile from another!!

Hello Lynnette,

I asked Valentino to come over so I could look at his nose. It is curious that I never look that close at any of my Beanie pals and I play with them all day long.

It seems as if his nose is a dark brown, BUT not as dark as the black of his eyes. So I think the pics that you saw were not all that good or something because his nose really is brown.

The goalie, Waddle, started to cry, but Nuts calmed him down. Bones was always trying to chew the ball so nobody passed to him. Anyway, there was one minute left and the score was now tied. Spike's team always won and he wasn't going to lose now. Stinky slowly dribbled the ball down the field, and nobody tried to steal it from him. He passed the ball to Squealer when Spike charged him. Squealer ran, but he wasn't fast enough. Luckly he wasn't hurt. The clock ticked away as Spike hurried down the field. 10-9-8... Spike came closer and closer to the goal. If his team was going to win again, now was his only chance. 7-6-5... Closer. 4-3... Spike kicked the ball hard, and it went sailing into the air. 2-1... The ball was very close to the goal. 0!!! The ball hit the net so hard that it made a hole right through it! "Tie game!" announced Ziggy, the referee. Spike was furious. "WHAT?!? I scored! My team won!" he told Ziggy. "No you didn't. The time ran out." Ziggy replied calmly. Spike kicked the ground and stormed off. ***My Question*** How do I control Spike's temper and teach him how to have good sportsmanship? Sincerely, Blizzard>>

Hi again Blizzard's brother,

Well, that is one really long email. Thanks for the play by play account! I would have preferred something shorter. Are you going to do the SuperBowl sportscast on TV tomorrow?

Blizzard tells me that the ONLY way to make Spike really happy and calm is to tell him stories like Peace does every night. He makes them up and tells them to all of the Beanies at the nursery and they really like them. Maybe during a game you could give Spike one of those new fangled radio transmitter ear plugs and let Peace tell him a story during the next game.

They are Quackers with a lighter, almost fluorescent orange beak and feet, it is a different colour than the normal one, but it is definitely a real beanie (trust me I know!). Does the greatest dinosaur in the history of the world know anythign about this!?! Thanks >>

Hi ,

Beanies always trust people!

Quackers said that she often plays games with her sisters and they sometimes take crayons to change their beak color, sort of like makeup. Some of the really creative ones even do it to their legs!

Derby likes to play too, but he only like to do spots on his head.

Quackers asked if you are that really nice person who posts ads saying that your Beanie Adoption Branch sells Maples to American kids for the normal price (plus shipping, of course)?

Hi,

I would have to say that my best Beanie friend is Peace. Why? Because he represents all that is good in the world.

Hi Sommer,

You can ask any question you want. Check out the ones that some of my friends have already asked on my Mail page.

I am really sorry to hear that your doggy died before Thanksgiving. That sort of thing happens sometime. Why not get a new one?

I am very surprised that Spike got mad with you, because he is always such a nice rhino with me. What did you do to the poor thing? Maybe he just wants to go outside and play soccer-- if you read one of the letters I got before yours, you will discover that Spike like to play soccer.

Dear Ac,

My buddy Mystic replaced her horn because the old one was getting all scratchy, sort of like what happens to reindeer, I guess. Well, her friends at TY talked to her partner Magic, and Magic said some magic words, and lo and behold she had a new shiny horn sort of like Magic's wings! WOW, Mystic was so happy with her new horn that she took off on Magic's back and they have been travelling the world ever since-- now that Magic is retired she has a chance to travel a lot.

What is a good friend worth? Do you have a good friend? Would you put a value on her or him?? A really good friend is worth zillions and zillions of dollars, or Yen, or German Marks or whatever. It would never occur to me to put a value on any of my Beanie friends who I play with all day long-- except when I am answering email of course!
