BEANIES IN GENERAL

Here are some of the emails about Beanie Babies in general that I received since January. Remember that I don't pick a winner until the end of each month. Thanks for all your really great letters. I never knew I had so many friends!

Make sure that you read my answers so you don't ask the same question again.

I've looked on the internet and their a many people looking from all over the world and many People from the U.S. asking if she is limited to Britain but she isn't in the British shops. What has happened to your friend please help me find her! All me beanies say hi and Erin wants to know if you're free Saturday night. Bye from Bim and her beans!>>

Hello Bim,

It seems as if people hoard bears in the UK also!!

Here in the States nobody can usually find any of my Beanie bear pals because many Official Beanie Adoption Centers sell their entire shipment "out the back door" to secondary market dealers who then sell them at HIGH prices at flea markets and online.

Did you ever notice how many there are listed on that infamous eBay auction site? And many times the listing is for "unopened TY bags"!!

Teddy bears have been VERY popular for about a century already, and it seems as if everybody is getting on the bear bandwagon-- from sports bears to famous person and even State bears!! I hear that there are some really cute Australian bears also.

I belong to a sunday school group that has kids in it from 8 or 9 up to 14. About all we all like is beanies so we decided to do a nativity scene for our program using a beanie from each of us. Its was real easy because of all the animals and we are using bears for people. Mary is played by Valentino and Curley is Joseph. The wise men are all peace bears. My mom even let us have her Lefty for the donkey. The problem is who should play baby Jesus? Some of the old people are mad at my mom for coming up with this idea, but we have had a lot of fun doing it. Please help us decide who ought to be the baby. Thank you. Amy age 13 >>

Hello Amy,

Christmas Teddy and Halo think that idea is really kewl!! It is VERY original.

Glory said that he would make the best Christ Child!! The stars on his body represent the one that guided the wise men, your 3 Peaces, to the manger.

You should take a pic of the nativity scene and send it to me for other kids to see your project.

I bet you anything that even the "old people" loved it when it was finished!!

Hello Ellen,

I just called Fortune over, and he does have a ribbon that is shiny on both sides. And the stamp on the inside of his tush tag is very faint, and it looks like just the edge of the stamp actually got put on.

He says that if he was cloned in Indonesia that they don't have stamps there.

I would NOT worry about yours being counterfeit.

I want to keep them real nice so I can have them when I am grown up. I have kept them in their plastic bags. Now I am reading on the Internet that this might not be a good idea. Plus they are selling hang tags for them. Since I know you know every thing there is to know about Beanies I thought you might give me a good idea of which to do, if I want to keep them for years. Leave them in own bags or take out and put in cases with hang tags. Thank you for your answer last month, it made little Ali real happy. She loves playing with her Teddy. Love, Chard>>

Hello Chard,

WOW, you got my Teenie friends!! They are the cutest critters!!

I personally don't see why you couldn't just leave them in their original sealed plastic baggies and store them somewhere that is not damp. If you like, you could use a hole puncher and make 2-3 little round holes in the plastic for air to get in and the cloth to "breath", as long as it is not damp and all. And don't keep them in the Sun-- that makes their color change!

You could always get some of the smaller tag protectors and keep them with the Teenies, without opening the baggies or actually putting them on.

Slither tells me that he has not seen any long term negative effects of keeping Beanies in plastic-- it does keep them cleaner than having them out, or even in some display case with glass doors. Dust does get in!

All my Beanie pals really hate to be kept in bags-- they can't breath too well that way, and it gets very lonely in some closet somewhere!! They love to be held and played with.

Hello Hayley,

Father TY DID NOT "lower" the adoption fees for my Beanie pals. What he suggested is that the Official Adoption Agencies should stop charging high prices for them and ONLY ask for "about" $5-6 OR the place "might" NOT get shipments as usual.

It would be nice to see more of my bear pals in stores rather than at every flea market for $50!!

My human friend, Sonny, thinks it is VERY strange that ALL the local Hallmark stores NEVER have any bears, BUT they do have piles of the other currents. Then he saw somewhere on the Internet that a lot of Hallmarks seem to be selling ALL their bears "out-the-back-door" to resellers. That's the reason why they are found in piles at all the flea markets!! Sonny doesn't have any of the newer bears because he can not pay what they are asking on the "secondary market".

Maybe IF you and all your friends write to Father Ty (the address is usually on his site) telling him that the places around you are charging way too much, he might even send over the "Beanie Police" to check the places out!!

Is there a certain way the bows are supposed to be tied around all of the bears necks or is it OK if they just hang there not in a bow? Thank you rex. Love, Brittni>>

Hello Brittni,

I asked Val and Curly about this one. They told me that their ribbons are USUALLY always tied. I find it sort of unusual that BOTH of yours had their ribbons untied. If the Beanies and tags are exactly the same as your friends, then they are real and NOT the fakes that have been coming out.

My human friend, Sonny, got his Clubby and the ribbon was almost untied, so he just made it a little tighter and it sort of looks "normal" now. So just carefully tie them in a bow and they should be OK.

I am surprised to hear that you can not find any of my Beanie pals in Australia. I myself have even written to Father Ty several times and never received a reply-- can you imagine!!

Hello Christa,

Father Ty makes just as many bears as he does my other Beanie Pals. Glory tells me that you don't usually find them in the Official Adoption Agencies, BUT you can find tables full at any local flea market!!

That probably means that the official dealers sell them all to friends, and these friends then supply them to the infamous "secondary market" people-- who then sell them for $25-50!!

This is NOT supposed to happen!!

My first question is about a store the sells beanies by me. They have a claw machine and have beanies in it. Well they have Righty, Princess, and FORTUNE!!!!! and a whole bunch of other ones. My sister and I spotted it at the same time and tried to get them. Well they have them chrunched together and the claw lets go before it gets to the drop so it take at least 10$ to get a beanie if you even do. Is this allowed by ty? Thank You elizabeth>>

Hello Elizabeth,

WOW, if you can get a Righty in that claw machine and only spend about $10-- that is a steal!! I know hundreds of kids who would rush right over there and stand in line for days to try to get one!!

On the boardwalks at the shore there have also been games "of chance" to win Beanies. The problem with all of them is that you really have little "chance" to actually win one-- unless you spend a pile of $$.

I don't really think that Father Ty ever said anything about his Beanies being clawed up!!

I only have a couple retiered ones most of the current ones and only some of the bears. I wouldn't even have these if my best friends mom didn't work right next to a gift shop that sold beanies. I really want some of the older retierees and the new ones but where I live it's almost impossible to see them. Whenever the stores that sells them gets in bears or newbies they post a sign saying they will put them out tomarrow. I had to wait one hour in a line to get my favorite new realease Jabber but when I got to the counter the clerk told me I had to buy two old ones to get Jabber of three old ones to get Princess or Erin! I didn't know I would have to buy so many just to get one I want. Another store in town posts there new beanies the night before they put them out. Me and my best friend went there at 6:30 in the morning when the store opened at 9. When we got there there was a line about 50 people long with only 4 kids!!! The lady in the front of the line had been sitting there since 11:00 the night before!!!!! The adults won't let us kids have kids toys! Is there anything I can do to get a beanie baby? Thanks Rex!! P.S. I'm stuck inside the house with allergies today...yuck!!>>

Hello Katy,

Smoochy tells me that he loves to hang in a basket!! That way he can see a lot more. I never knew he liked that. Now he jumped up on my shoulder.

Isn't it strange that so many "older" kids are always in line when a new shipment arrives?? It is exactly this somewhat "older" child who is ruining it for the really young ones, like you and many of the kids who write to me. They almost take all the fun out of trying to adopt a new Beanie friend!!

If that store has these really odd rules, why not try to find a "normal" adoption center-- although I have heard that New York is not the best place to find a regular priced Beanie!!

Don't worry too much-- when winter comes and there is a lot of snow on the ground, these somewhat older kids will find that their "juvenile arthritis" flares up when it is too cold out, and they don't want to keep the Mercedes running with the heat on too long, waiting for the place to open, because gas will probably be 3 cents more expensive by December!! Then all you young kids can hitch up your Nanooks and sled on down to the nearest cheapy adoption center.

Why don't a whole class at your school write and sign a petition to a nice adoption center, asking them to make certain days "KIDS DAY", like for 3 hours after school lets out. Suggest that each child would only ask for one Beanie of any kind, and maybe they would even set aside any new ones that come in just for "KIDS DAY".

Wouldn't that be great?? Try it-- you never know!! Maybe the idea will catch on and you can even start a website dedicated to those adoption centers that do this. It might even make Father Ty happy to see that his Beanies are going where he says they are supposed to go and award those places with larger shipments!!

Hello Donna,

Steggy says that a plastic baggie is a great way to store your Beanie friends. It keeps the dust off them, and helps to keep them minty fresh. Some people like to punch a small hole in the bag so the poor critter can breathe.

My friend Sonny puts all his Beanie pals in an individual plastic baggie and places them all into sort of large plastic "blanket chests" that he gets cheap at Sam's Club. They are transparent and have nice lids, so you can see what is inside without rummaging through them all.

Recently he discovered the wisdom of keeping each one in a plastic baggie. He had a bunch in a cardboard box with a plastic bottle of bleach he just bought nearby. When he went to put the Beanies in the new plastic chests a couple days later he discovered that the bleach bottle was leaking on the floor and the box was disintergrating-- BUT all of the critters were safe and snug in their individual baggies!!

Hello Guy,

Only Father Ty knows why he names my Beanie friends as he does. Many seem to have to do with what the animal does, or how it looks. Beak says it must be his beak that gave him his name! And Buffalos do "roam" the prairies, don't they?

If people can fight over Beanies at an adoption center, I am sure they will do it over other things. Unfortunately that's how many people are!!

Hello Stephanie,

Father Ty has separate divisions of the company in Europe and Canada. I think that he thought it would be nice for the differently run divisions to be able to say that they have a special Beanie from their own division. They each operate somewhat differently and have different shipment schedules, different labels and ways of doing business.

PLUS it does add to the hype which seems to make their prices as high as the Moon!! It may be a great business practice BUT it is not very good for the child in Wichita who might like to have a Britannia to Love!!

Do you think this Beanie Baby craze will disappear like the others (Elmo, Ninja Turtles, Tomogotchi, etc.) or will it stay around for a while longer? After all, they have been here since 1993.>>

Hello Meagan,

My Beanie pals make great incentives for good grades, doing chores and the many other things that parents like to reward their children for.

Why should Father Ty advertise anywhere? There are hundreds of websites which do all the promotion he could ever want, and all for FREE!! He doesn't have to spend a cent!!

As long as older Beanies get retired and new ones appear a couple times a year, the "craze" may continue indefinitely. More and more new people are beginning to discover and "collect" them.

The other toys which you mentioned were not as "organized", in a promotional sense, as the Beanies have been. They had no "official" websites, nor Clubs to join and all those details which are the dream of any retailer and public relations expert.

Unfortunately their popularity has led to reports of dealers selling Bears, which have always been very popular no matter which company makes them, at shows and on the online auctions for VERY outrageous prices-- and they never seem to have them in their shops at the "normal" price. Something has to change or the kids who like them will become frustrated and stop getting them to play with.

Hello Seth,

The question should really be "why can't anyone else treat Beanie Babies like a toy", which it is! A true "collectible" is something that is really sort of rare, has not been made in the millions, and usually is older than 25 years. There is NO Beanie that fills these general needs!

Whether Father Ty really still thinks that Beanies are simply toys or not has been highly debated on the WEB. His public relations staff keeps coming out with these really neat blurbs about going after official dealers who sell higher than the "normal" price -- BUT go to any Beanie show or look at the auction sites and you will see obvious dealers who are selling the new releases (out of FULL Ty boxes!!) for ridiculous prices!! Either Ty does not know this is happening (which is doubtful) or he just doesn't care!! "Business is business"!!

Hello Anka,

Strut told me that he is NOT retired-- yet!

It is strange that the New Jersey Hallmark stores seem to have no idea what Beanies are retired and which are not. Maybe all they want is to make more $$ than they are supposed to.

In Trenton one shop even sells any common current at $7.99, the new October releases at $10 and up, Valentino at $20 and Strut at $25!! And since they never seem to have Princess or Erin I can only assume they sell them out the back door for piles of $$!!

Somebody should report them, but from the posts I see on the verious net Beanie boards, Ty doens't really care who sells what or for how much. Hello Joanna,

In the Tickle Me Elmo days that company didn't have a website (nor were there as many people with home computers) that created the hype that Father Ty does. Plus, there are literally hundreds of Beanie websites on the NET, with new ones being created every day.

A newer addition to the hyper-marketing list are Father Ty's "Attic Collectibles", which are cuter than many of my Beanie pals and usually wear different kinds of clothes. Only a couple months ago you could find them in piles in any shop. Now several websites have included accurate information about which ones are retired and also have "Price Guides" stating what their "worth" is.

Princess says that these so-called "guides" (which always seemed to me sort of like the Wall Street Journal stock quotes!!), that are often updated weekly, only cause the adoption fees to soar -- and already these plush jointed bears and other fantastic critters (which are cloned in FAR fewer numbers than Beanies!!) are becoming even harder to find than Beanies!! This happened in only about 3 months, and all due to cyber "market exposure"!!

Watch those ugly Teletubbies take off also. They are very popular in Great Britian and its colonies, despite their apparent inability to speak English correctly, and they will probably also be hyped to death on the WEB. I just did an aol NET SEARCH for "Teletubby" and got 114 items listed. This number will probably grow exponentially in 3 months as the sites proliferate!!

Your Lucky seems like a "normal" one to me. You count even the ones half hidden by the "seams". You will probably find 11 spots.

YES, it seems as if bears are very popular and are hard to come by. Reason number one is that Ty has an awful shipment system, and official adoption centers rarely get what they order.

And some greedy dealers sell all their popular Beanies out the back door to friends, or on the internet auctions or trading boards, and even at Beanie shows for piles more $$ than the usual $5-6!!

So until Father Ty stops shipping to these crooks, nobody will find many of the ones they are looking for at a reasonable price!

Imagine what it would be like if every store got an unlimited number of Beanies and each person only adopted as many as they need for their kids-- and NO extras. All the auctions would go out of business (kewl!), Beanies would ALL cost only $5, nobody would post ads on the internet selling boards, the Ty site would get boring and all the artificial hype would be gone. And people could spend their time doing more interesting things than spend hours scrounging through the thousands of ads for way overpriced Beanies and looking at the so-called "Price Guides" whose only purpose is to make the prices go even higher every week (check to see who runs the price guides, on which sites, and how much they make from ads, auctions and other cute things!)!!

WOW, what a paradise it would be!!

Hello Heather,

Princess says that your idea for twin Beanies is kewl, but since all of the Beanies are already brothers and sisters, if you take any two of the same ones you just might get a pair of twin brothers and or sisters. Did you ever think of that?

Hello Patrick,

The Beanie Adoption Centers that I know of put all their Beanies out when they arrive-- except to the ones they sell to friends, or on the trading boards and on the online auctions.

By the weekend they probably don't have any more left. Try to go after school on a weekday. Talk to the people at your closest store and ask them to save any that come in for kids so they can get them after school. If they are nice, they might do it.

Or do they do it a totally different way? From, Carolyn, from New York >>

Hello Carolyn,

Princess told me, although she has never seen the cloning process, that the pattern is cut, the Beanie is partially sewn and then the beans (which are plastic pellets) are put in and the critter is completely sewn up.

Exactly where the beans enter depends on the model.

And I was hoping that it would be a totally more technologically advanced process! I imagined that the prototype in Illinois is placed in a secret imaging machine where lasers scan the entire Beanie and get a digital clone matrix readout. This data would then be automatically transferred to the cloning lab on the other side of the world by way of satellite.

Immediately the chemicals are mixed for the pellets, the weaving robots provide the cloth, lasers cut the patterns, a surgical device is inserted to completely sew the Beanie from the inside, and the newly discovered teleportation scanner transfers the pellets from the storage pool into each critter. Each individual tag is laser printed and the pure 24k gold leaf is added to the edges of the hang tag. Then the human technicians put the hang tag on and very carefully pack them into bags of 12, being extra careful not to crease the tags.

There are not really so many "variations" in my Beanie friends. Some of them have changed a little, like Derby with his new spot or Mystic with a much kewler horn, but most of them have not changed at all.

Hello Jessica,

All the Teddys are saying that the easiest way is not always the best way! If there were only one "style", then some of them wouldn't be in the nursery playing with their other Beanie friends!

Fabric is fabric-- they make tons of it. And one color is as expensive as another. If they run out of one, as in the case of the old version Stripes, they simply switch to another that is more or less the same.

That is what makes what my friend Sonny calls, "Beanie Science", really kewl and interesting!

Hello Marisa,

Lots of things become "popular" for some reason or other, many times due to publicity.

Sonny, my best friend, said that he can remember when Green Hornet rings and crystal radios were popular. And in those days most of the ads were on the radio or in newspapers -- television wasn't even common in every home then! Geeze, he must be as old as the dinosaurs!

Can you remember the Cabbage Patch dolls, transformers (those neat machines like planes or cars that would change to cyber warriors) or the first Commodore computers?? In those days nobody was on the internet, and they didn't have email and all these neat things. Now there are hundreds of Beanie web sites, the largest of which is Father Ty's.

Plus, many retire of my pals each year and new Beanie friends are introduced, which helps keep the interest alive. Plus, we are relatively inexpensive-- except when special ones are cloned! And we are cute and lovable!!

Hello Lacey,

Princess told me that the Official Beanie Adoption Centers are allowed to charge whatever they want as adoption fees. The thing is, you have to shop around and find a place that charges the normal $5-6, and when the expensive places realize that they have tons of unadopted Beanies, then they might wise up a little. After all, they are supposed to be for kids like you!

Many people have said that certain places are downright nasty to kids when they come looking for new Beanie playmates. And they probably "save" different ones for so called "collectors" because they are willing to pay much higher adoption fees! Or maybe the owner even sells them himself at the nearest Beanie show?

Princess wishes you luck.

Love Steph from Minnesota, the not so chilly state this year!!!!! Thanks>>

Hello Steph,

Well, tie-dyed cloth has been used for centuries in many places in the world. It was very popular in the U.S. in the '60s, during the "hippy" period, and maybe your parents even made some shirts and stuff using this techique when they were kids.

Why don't you try you hand at it? All you need are some dyes for cloth in different bright colors-- which you can usually buy at the supermarket-- and a couple old white t-shirts or scraps of old white sheets to practice on.

Make the dyes according to the instructions on the package. Take your cloth or shirt and tie it into knots in a couple places, or just bundle it up using strong rubber bands. Dye it, then untie or unbundle, and knot or clump it in a couple different places. Now put it in a different color dye. Do this as often as you want for more colors and designs. If you practice, you can make kewl designs appear where you want them to.

The tie-dyed colors of my Beanie friends is all in the cloth they are cloned from. And there are no two that are exactly alike! Sort of like snow flakes or fingerprints, I guess.

At least you have one of your favorite Beanies. Doby and Sting say hello.

Princess tells me that eventually there will be a Rottie Beanie for you and Cinder to Love. My best human friend, Sonny, has a Doberman named Tracey, and she always snuggles up to Doby!

Krystal,

Isn't that strange how kids seem to like certain things that some "grown ups" think are "dumb"?? But the lives of the two are also different, aren't they?

Your Dad has to go to work, which he probably hates, to make enough money to pay for the place you live, the food the family and pets eat, the car, the electric and gas bills and loads of other stuff. These are the things that are important to him and your Mom.

Maybe he has a hobby? That would be a good starting point for you to renew his childhood imagination and interest. If he likes sports, what is the mascot of his favorite teams? Give him the Beanie that is closest to the mascot for his birthday, or just as a "thank you for being my Dad" surprise. Or if he has another interest, find a Beanie that sort of matches or might be connected to that interest. Maybe that would work. Or maybe a Beanie has the same birthday as your Dad. He might find that fun?

Steggy finds it strange that most people, as they "grow up", lose that fantastic childlike inquisitiveness, imagination and spontaneousness of their youth. It is probably due to their need to think about how to pay the bills, which a child does not usually have to worry about.

My best human friend, Sonny, would have had the same problem you have. His Dad worked in a factory and always came home from work very tired. He wasn't into sports, and only liked doing mechanical stuff, like fix cars and the house. Sonny said that probably what he would have done was give his Dad a Valentino on Father's Day to tell him that he loved him. My Beanie pal Valentino said he would have loved to meet his Dad because he isn't "mechanically inclined"!

Hi again Michelle,

Steggy says that being "washed several times" makes him very uncomfortable and that he really never feels the same after so many washings. And none of my Beanie pals really likes getting all dizzy and all in the washing machine! IF you put them in the machine the color can make the tush tag get some color on it.

If one of my Beanie friends gets a little dirty from playing outside all day, a damp sponge wet with the foam from Woolite in water will clean the surface rather well, unless the poor thing fell into a tar pit or something! Then, put my Beanie pal in a pillow case and put him in the drier at low heat for a short time. If his "fur" is scruffy, take a cat brush or one of those lint brushes and fluff it up a bit.

My human friend, Sonny, keeps ALL of his Beanies in plastic baggies and they NEVER get all ratty looking.

I really can't tell you the reason why some people seem "mean". Peace says that is awful, but you already know that there are people who are very nice, and some others who are down right nasty. Isn't it interesting that the ones who are nice to you and your sister get "niceness" in return, while the nasty ones make you get mad and all? It seems that people "get what they give"! And that only makes them either nicer or more nasty!

On the other hand I have never met a Beanie who was not the absolutely nicest and friendliest critter. I guess it is in our "nature" to be loving and all.

Maybe if you tried to be EXTRA nice to the people that seem "mean", they might even like it a little bit and think that they should be nicer to you and other people. Have you tried that yet?

Think back to when the Cabbage Patch Kids arrived for adoption. Did they have many websites that you could find them on? There were probably 90% fewer home computers at that time, and none of them were connected to the internet! WOW, that was like in prehistoric times!

Steggy, who is my "quiet" Beanie pal because he is always thinking about all kinds of stuff told me that as long as there are more and more kids surfing the WEB there will always be enough Beanies around to adopt, with new ones appearing a couple times a year.

It depends on what you mean by "bigger". IF "longer", than Slither is the longest of them all. IF "taller", then probably Stretch is the tallest. IF you meant "wide", then I guess Sting would be the widest.

Hello Sandy,

Thanks for your compliment about my site. It is a lot of work for an ole dinosaur like me, but it is kewl fun. My paws just aren't as fast as they used to be!

My Beanie friends are cloned in different cloning labs and I guess the top secret formula they use is not according to some international standard, which is what scientists like to have all the time. Ordinary water is H2O, as you know, all over the Universe.

If you look at an answer to a question I got about a science project, I suggested a kewl project on Beanie weights and how they vary. Did you notice that some of the newer Beanies look bigger than a lot of the older ones? And I think they are much cuter too!

Jolly is upset that you think he is so much "smaller"! He said that Seaweed and Nuts are also sort of "smaller" than Stretch, for example.

I just squeezed Garcia and Curly-- and it tickled them so much they rolled over laughing-- BUT they feel about the same to me. Maybe you don't feed your Garcia enough? He loves pizza!

Some people say that the Beanies cloned in Korea seem "fuller" and plumper than those from China. Maybe it's the better Korean cooking?

Some of the answers to my friends' questions are put on my email pages. You will find yours there under BEANIES-GENERAL. I answer them all personally, so you will also get your reply by email.

Hi Elisabeth,

Bongo's sister was named "Nana" because she is a miniature monkey. You would have to check a dictionary that has Greek word "roots" in it.

"Nanos" in Greek means "dwarf", and the "o" ending would make it a male dwarf. Since Nana is a girl dwarf monkey, her name had to end in "a". Sort of like the names Mario and Maria in Spanish.

My Beanie friends are so collectible because they are the cutest little critters, especially the new ones. Although some may be "more popular" than others, they are all the friendliest and most lovable kids' pals ever made.

Iggy and Rainbow ARE like the mistagged Echo and Waves. They are sitting here with me and love to confuse people! Eventually you will find them with their correct names.

Good luck on your search for Maples-- since they are only sold in official Beanie Adoption Centers in your country, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to find them.

Hi,

What is this, "Jeopardy!" or something? My Beanie pals prefer to watch Public Television and mostly shows about animals.

But, since you asked, ALL of the Beanies labels have symbols on them! Bruno said that the letters of the alphabet are only "symbols" joined together to make words having certain sounds. It all depends on what you want to call "symbols". Peace is telling me that he has a the "PEACE" symbol on him. Flags are also sort of like symbols, so Maple, Libearty, Righty, Lefty and Britannia would have symbols on them too.

Quackers has been whispering in my ear to tell you that if you hold her with her beak towards the ceiling and if you consider her beak a symbol for "quacking", then you could say that she is "quacking up"!

Hi,

Well, that is an easy one for once. There were actually 9 original Beanies that first appeared in the nursery, and they are all here jumping up and down saying, "put me first"! So to be fair I am going to give you the list in alphabetical order:

Brownie, Chocolate, Flash, Legs, Patti, Punchers, Splash, Spot and Squealer.

Well Hi again,

Why do you always forget to sign your letter? I hate just saying "Hi" without a name. I always write to my friends using their first name, and I always sign my name at the end.

<looking around the nursery> I count, let's see now, zillions and zillions of Beanies having some 138 different Beanie names. But you have to remember that a couple of the names have the same BSSIDN (= Beanie Social Security ID Number), which complicates things a little! Actually the most exact way to do this is to take a picture and count them all on the pic, but my human friend Sonny was using his digital camera outside.

My favorite Beanie Pal is Steggy, with Peace coming in at a close second. They send you a big Beanie hug.

Hi Mysti,

I think that is strange that you did not get an email reply from TY. Did you write to INFO beanie of the month. My friend Sonny likes to email the INFO beanie, and he and Blizzard always sent emails back and forth last year.

The problem with the INFO Beanies is that they get zillions of emails and just can't keep up with them all. Sonny was surprised to get replies to 3 of his letters on the same day from Blizzard but noticed that they always said the same thing! It looks like poor Blizzy got so many that day that he had to put on the automatic answering machine like you probably have on your phone. Isn't it nice to actually get a personal reply from a cool Beanie? And you never know who's letter I will pick to win the monthly FREE Beanie!

Did you go to the hospital yet? Sonny was in the hospital last year a couple times and he liked to get calls from friends and visits from us Beanies asking how he was and cheering him up. I hope that you are OK and all.

Hi again Mysti,

All my Beanie friends are very glad that you are OK.

I have a question for you : what weighs more, a ton of stuffed animals or a ton of Beanies?

Well Hi again Mysti,

Why don't you stop to think about it a little! If you have A TON of stuffed animals and A TON of Beanies, they BOTH weigh EXACTLY the same thing, ONE TON!!

It is the same for a ton of feathers and a ton of that heavy metal lead. A ton is a ton, no matter what material it is.

How many beans are inside a Beanie baby? Can you eat them like pintos and rice? My mom makes me eat pintos and rice sometimes. It is yucky. I like rice, though. Love, Alex>>

Hello Alex,

I asked a whole bunch of my Beanie pals if they would let me check to see how many "beans" they have inside and NOT ONE let me! Sorry.

I love Pinto beans and rice, especially if there is some broccoli with it. Yummy!! BUT NO, our beans are not something that you would eat.
