It is hoped that his new section will eventually include ALL of the national exclusive Beanies, providing details of issue, retirement and birth dates, poems, as well as other details about changes in the Beanie and its tags. I hope it will be useful to collectors of all ages.

Some Useful Terms

Version = an actual change in the Beanie, for example a different color material, ribbon or something about the critter itself, as we have seen in brown batty and tie dyed batty.

Issue = something to do with a change in the Beanie tags. If only some details of the tag change, due to error, use of a different font, spacing of the lines, replacing the bar code with eBeanie, this would be a new Issue. An example would be the 2 different Hang Tags found on Periwinkle and Sunny -- one has a bar code on the back, while the other has eBeanie.

Generation = IF the entire Beanie tag changes its general format or appearance, than it would be a new Generation tag.

A particular Beanie may be found in several Versions, Tag Generations and Issues, and many people confuse one term with another.

It is possible that I may find the time to include Attic Collectibles as well.

Germania

issued on 1 January 1999

retired on 23 December 23 1999

birthday is October 3, 1990

P O E M

 Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit

ist der Deutschen Einheitslied

Allen Kindern brav und fein

soll dieser Bär der Liebste sein!

Oneness and justice and freedom

is the German unity song

To all brave and good children

this bear should be the most loved!

Germania is a Bear exclusive to Germany. Although the bear itself has remained the same, its

Hang Tag (5th Generation) and Tush Tag have changed

In the First Issue we find Gasport, birthdate in American style with the month before the day, misspelled words in the poem (which has space between the lines), small web address and instructions on the reverse in English.

Incorrectly spelled are : Geburtsag (Geburtstag), Einheislied (Einheitsleid), un (und), das liebste (der Liebste).

In the Second Issue we see Gosport spelled correctly, the date is now in the German style with the day before the month, the German poem is corrected having NO space between the lines, larger web address, and text on the reverse in German.

Tush Tag

Although the Tush Tag says the same thing on both sides, it was folded in the First and Second Issue Germanias, but in the Third Issue it is a single piece of fabric. This change, if later found on ALL Beanies would result in a new Tush Tag Generation.

[ my sincere thanks go to Claudia, with whom I traded to get some different Issue Germanias, and who first told me about the differences just before Christmas 2000 - and the critters arrived on 26 December! ]
